First week of School
With the first week of school almost over, I truly don’t see the change I was hoping to from Gr. 9 to 10. The school that my bonus son goes to is…. i’m not even sure what the right word is here. I think one of the biggest problems that we both (Myself and my husband) have is with one teacher. This teacher is in charge of one of the teams he is on. The problem is for example, their is a meeting this weekend. We don’t have a form for it. So no info on where, when, how they are getting there, or even what day it is on. This is the same teacher that last year never got an accident report sent home when D got hurt and almost passed out. This teacher at the end of last year was saying he may not lead this team. Honestly I was hoping that they would find a different teacher to do it.
With D being out of the house all day again it makes the day a lot quieter. Not that he is loud or anything but just have me and the little one in the house all day is very different.
Also this week I have started getting more DMs on Instagram. Most of these are coming from men. I don’t have a big problem with this. I will say thank you for the complement and leave it at that. Now the problem come when they keep going. More then once this week I have had to tell these men that I am happily married with children. This has not been doing the trick. To the point where this one man followed up with sending me a picture of him in his boxers.
Now can someone please tell me why some men feel its ok to send these types of pictures with out any reasonable thought that the person that they are sending it to will want to see it?

Toronto Transit Commission (TTC)
Living in the city comes with good and bad. The TTC falls into both of these categories at times.
The good, you can get almost anywhere you need to go via the TTC. It gives great you the ability to not have a car when in the city. There are times you can have really nice talks with other passengers. You get to see the good side of the human race.
On Friday I was able to get on baby free. I was on the bus to go over to York dale mall. While on the bus an older lady got on and she was offered a seat by a younger person as there where no other open seats. I have seem a driver wait for someone that is running for the bus, instead of just leaving. These are only a few of the good things I have seem.
The bad, yesterday was a bad TTC day. We where going out for the day. Me my husband and the little one. So we had the bigger stroller with us.
Not the biggest stroller you can get but it takes up a good amount of space on the bus. All this to say we had to let 3 buses pass us before we got one that was not so full we could not get on. So when the bus we did get on went out of service at the last stop before the subway we where not vary happy. Fine its a nice day so we walked.
So fast forward to coming home. We missed our normal bus. This one runs every 30 (or at lest that’s what they say it does). It happens so not a big deal we head up stairs. Once we are up there is not going back down as there is only a stair case to go down from the upper level. We waited more then 20 minutes for a bus. Thankfully (????) 6 buses all come one after another. So the 6th bus was the one we where able to go on to.
Yay we are on a bus and finally on our way home. Well at the second stop two more strollers get on the bus. Okay that’s fine we moved our stroller in so they could get on. Well the one lady sits with her kids and talks with them. The other lady, puts her kids in the seats at the fount with the stroller (she did put the breaks on) and sits in a seat about 5 feetish away. She spends the whole time talking (loudly) on her phone. Her older boy (about 5) tried to get her attention by calling out to her several times with out any response at all. Finally the other lady needs to get off the bus. So instead of hoping off the bus for a second to let her off she man handles her (my guess 3 year old) daughter out of the way. Never did she stop her phone call or ask the little one to move or give her any kind of instruction.
I truly felt bad for these kids. There should never be a phone call that is that important that you can’t respond to your 5 year old.
Sorry for the rant. We will get back to our normally fun topics next time.
With the end of August
Well I defiantly met my goals that I set for myself for August. I guess for September I should try to reach a little higher.
So lets do a little recap from the month. This will be my 19th post in the first month of this blog. I did the local shopping trip to Walmart and did The Eaton Center. These where both not part of my August plan. I did also do what I wanted/said I would and went to York dale.
The trip to York dale went very well. We found that American Eagle has jeans that fix, and the fix is amazing. We also found that Forever 21 does have clothing that I like. But we also found that a lot of the stores do not carry about a 14.
This month also saw my YouTube channel going live. To find it search Sara Johnston or Torrid Try on Toronto. This was a very big thing for me. Having been plus size all my life and growing up in a time where bullying was not a “zero tolerance” hot button subject. The night that I got the video up I was so worried that I could not sleep cause I was going to get up to people telling me that I am too fat. I should never have thought I could have done that. No one wants to see all that. And so on, I think you can tell then I am going with this.
Anyways none of that happened. I have subscribers and have had people watch it. Like wow!!! So today I got to go over to York dale again but this time with out the little one. Thanks to my step son for watching him for me. It made filming in Forever 21 so much easier. Mind you when you don’t have a stroller with you, you don’t get the bigger change rooms. Then I was also able to get back into American Eagle. OMG I love there jeans. Have you caught on yet I truly do love the jeans there.
So two video have been filmed and I will be working on editing and getting them live. The plan is to get one up a week. So Forever 21 should go live on September 6th, and the other from American Eagle on the 13th. I want to try for a video once a week. I am also hoping to add a new blog every other day. Well that’s about it other then posting to Instagram also every other day.

First video and whats next
This week I have been doing a lot of learning. I did my first try on video in Torrid at the Eaton Center in Toronto. That means that I have been working on editing the footage and doing the intro and exit filming for the video. Also still need to do a voice over for the try on part of the video. That I am finding the hardest part. I need a quite space, and with a 15 year old and the 14 month old home that seems to be a little hard to come by. (School is back next week).
So that’s my plan hopefully for tonight after bed. I want to get the voice over recorded and attached to the video so that I can upload it to YouTube for Friday.
Then on Friday I am hoping to get out to Forever 21 I do some more filming in the change room and start all over again. I am hopefully going to be able to do one video a week. I do worry that I am not going to be able to come up with enough contact to keep that up. If you have any suggestions on what type of things you would like to see feel free to leave it in the comments below.
I have been working on some ideas for other things I can that are not just try-on’s in the dressing rooms. 1, Order a bunch of stuff from somewhere like Shein. They are cheap and you can get free shipping a lot of the time. 2, I could do baby related stuff, this could be toys, gear, or clothes. 3, Thinking we could order a few subscription boxes. With this one I am thinking to start with a beauty box.
I have found three “boxes” that look interesting, FaceTory at $8.90 USD/month. ipsy is next up at a cost of $14.95 USD/month. Lastly we have Topbox at $13.85/CAD. If I do this it will be for I’m thinking 2 months, so I would do two videos for this to compare the boxes.

Going in the right direction
As a follow up to my last blog.
We did end up at the Eaton Center on Friday last week. It went well for the most part. I was able to get into Torrid and do some filming. Was also able to get into the American Eagle, Forever 21 and the Aerie.
So I am not going to talk about Torrid today we will get back to that once the video is ready to go live on YouTube. You will also be able to find info on that visit on Instagram (so go follow me there, SaraJohnston079). I also was able to get into Addition Elle.
My experience was so very different from Aerie to American Eagle. American Eagle was friendly they offered help and just over all I did not feel out of place in the store. The Aerie on the other hand was not helpful, no one talked to me or offered any type of help. I did find one top in Aerie that I had wanted to try, but ended up putting in back as I could not find a sales person in the store to ask about sizing or the sale that was going on.
American Eagle, what can I say other then I am so happy I found you. So this first top is just to funny. I am wearing it in a XL and having to hold it closed. It is on the sale rack for 60% off so it is $17.95 right now. Its just not for me. If I really wanted it I would need to size down to a L. Now the second top I love, wish it was on sale. It’s $44.95 and an XL. I love the little bit of tummy that it shows, with my new high waisted jeans from American Eagle that may not even show. I will be stocking the site for this to go on sale and making sure I get it when (positive thinking) it does.
I went into Forever 21 looking for something sexy. I think I will have to visit the one at Yorkdale again. This one at the Eaton Center is a smaller store and felt very messy. So no pictures as I did not try anything on.
So we got out of the mall and headed over to Addition Elle. I really did try to find items that I liked, really I did. I was able to find 2 pieces to try on.
Lets start with the sweater. I liked it as a top with the lace cami under so that I was not showing off my bra. This is a 2X and $49.00. The dress is nice but missing something to help make it pop. Maybe its just because of my hair colour right now, not really sure. In store I did try it on with a scarce tied around my waist, it helped. The dress is in a size 1X and is $69.00
The green one I just found on the website and think it would be very cute with the dress. The second one is the one I was able to try with it in store. Both are $22.

Eaton Center
With September right around the corner I have been brainstorming new ideas. One of the big things I want to start working on is filming. Staring with taking you with me to try on clothes in fitting rooms.
That bring us to the location in the title. Tomorrow we are going to head down town to the Eaton Center.
I have a few goals for this trip. One of the big ones is going to try filming in the change room at Torrid. The other big goal is to find something (sexy maybe) for my Wedding Anniversary.
I am hoping to get into Torrid. This is a store that only carries plus size clothes. I am thinking Forever 21 maybe my best hope for an anniversary outfit. Then they also have an American Eagle, and an Aerie (may have to try that out.)
But as always this is all depend on my little one. If he’s in the right type of mood to let me shop and try stuff on or not. So here’s hoping he will get lots of sleep tonight and nap in his stroller while we are out and about tomorrow.

About the same time I started this blog I also started a new public Instagram account. It’s going well I even have followers that are not people that I know.
The interesting thing with Instagram is companies will just put comments on a post or send you a DM, to see if you want to advertise there product.
So I have had this happen twice now. The first one asked me to private message them. I took a look at there website first and it looked interesting so I did. With them they asked that you just pay shipping., That seemed far. Problem was after picking out a few items I looked at the sizing chart. The tops that they have might fit but for sure would be very tight.
So I sent them off a nice message saying that although I would like to order from them I did not feel that they had a size that would truly fit. Well what I got back I am sure was a form response. Just going on about how that don’t make anything from sending out the items free. Okay great but that was not the problem.
Now the second company is a bit of a different story. Once again they reached out to me. They commented on a picture I had posted asking if I would like to be featured in their collection. So I did the same thing and looked at the website.
Now with this one I was a little confused. It’s cloths for boys and dads. Well I am not a dad and my son has only been on my Instagram twice. (Not one of the pictures that they commented on).
I still liked the stuff that they have so I went ahead and responded to them also. Now I still have not heard back from them and we are going on over a week at this point.
I just don’t get it. I did not going looking for them, I did not send them the first email, they came to me. Why did they feel it was ok to waste my time if they are not going to respond to me?
